Ariettes Oubliées
is a song cycle of poems by Paul Verlaine from his Romances Sans Paroles set of poems. The nine poems were
composed between May and June 1872. Compass is C3 to F4 and the total work is about 20 minutes in duration.
They examine the human condition of heart and soul often against a background of nature. There is pathos
but also joy and delight in people and places. All nine pieces do not have to be played together. Each is a separate
piece in its own right.
