The Manor of Stratford
The Manor of Stratford lies in the parish of Wilnecote, Warwickshire, and is situated on the old Roman road of Watling Street, where it crosses the River Tame, towards Fazeley. The western boundary is the River Tame and the eastern boundary is the area known as Two Gates. In earlier times it was also known as Stretford and was held for centuries by the Marmion family, lords of Tamworth Castle, together with other local manors. Today the area of the manor mostly comprises a modern housing estate known locally as Mount Pleasant. John Bartlett is the current Lord of the Manor. |
